A New Local Development Framework: Core Strategy

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 brought in new requirements for local authorities. The old planning system was reactive: the new system promotes a proactive, positive approach to managing development and delivering change. The Core Strategy will set the overall vision for the sustainable development of the borough, the key objectives and strategic policies.

Southbank Centre: improvements to the public realm around Hungerford Bridge

The Royal Festival Hall and its extensions have been open for a year. The various restaurants and cafes have been such a success that the South Bank is now the fifth most popular eating destination in London. Now the South Bank Centre propose to extend the retail under Hungerford Bridge, as well as tidy up the confused connections between the bridges, the riverside, and the RFH terraces. Mike McCart explains
