Living With a Legacy

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Two gardeners talk about the challenge of living with an iconic garden - and of preserving that legacy for future generations.

Fergus Garrett began to work for Christopher Lloyd at Great Dixter fifteen years ago, and has been Head Gardener since 1993. Fergus will describe the vision for its future. How do you preserve a garden which attracts visitors from across the world - but at the same time keep it alive, changing and new?

The Laskett in Herefordshire was created over thirty years by Sir Roy Strong and his wife, the late Dr Julia Trevelyan Oman. She died in 2003. What has it been like to garden without her? And how does he see the future of the Laskett?
