Diamond Celebration for Southwark at Unicorn Theatre

As a culmination of its Diamond Season - celebrating 60 years since Caryl Jenner founded the Unicorn Theatre Company - the theatre is inviting Southwark residents to come and join the party.

The day will be packed with Japanese themed events taking place in and around the Unicorn. This will include sushi making and manga drawing demonstrations, Taiko drumming and a post-show discussion about how the Japanese and British see each other. There will also be free performances of Japanese plays The Twin Stars (11am & 2.30pm; ages 7+) and Hello Maru-Chan ( 10.45am & 1.45pm; ages 4+) with special drama and paper cutting workshops linked to the shows available on the day.

All the events are free for Southwark residents and anyone can just turn up on the day to enjoy the demonstrations. The tickets for the performances are free but need to be booked in advance by calling the box office and quoting your postcode on 020 7645 0560.

Accompanying the two productions there are two workshops. These have
limited capacity and tickets must be booked in advance. Get yourself a perfect day with your family by booking both the show and the accompanying workshop for free!

The Twin Stars Workshop (drama based):
10am, 12.45pm, 1.45pm, 4.15pm
Hello Maru-Chan Workshop (origami based):
9.45am, 12.15pm, 3.15pm, 4.30pm

Post Show Discussion on Japanese and British Identity

At 4.30pm there will be a discussion chaired by Nicholas Barter on how the Japanese and the British see each other. This is open to everyone on a drop-in basis.
