In This Place of Safety

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Many times in life, we are seeking safety outside ourselves. This is usually influenced by fear of change rather than by facts. Individual feelings of safety are closely related to the actual physiological (food, clothing and shelter) and psychological needs (love, recognition and affiliation with others). This is, however, only a starting point in exploration of various angles of meaning of safety in our life today.

A site-specific audiovisual installation In This Place Of Safety (ITPOS) uses a building as a projection screen to explore intersections between temporary video interventions, architecture and art. It combines images of empty playgrounds projected across NOVAS gallery• building faade and sound of children's voices talking about safety. It aims to add an extraordinary element to the cityscape of LB Southwark, but also more quietly start a conversation about how safe do we feel and why.
