Family Arts Tours at Various locations

These free day trips for families led by local volunteers are designed to encourage people from all backgrounds to sample the arts on offer in the South Bank and Bankside area.

The trips are designed for families with kids aged 3-12 but younger/older children can attend too. The groups will go at an easy pace and include breaks and picnic time.

There is a choice of two tours:

Coming up through the Cracks (South Bank)

Experience fantastic and surreal shows outside the National Theatre in Theatre Square, pop into BFI Southbank for free film workshops, watch young skaters perform tricks under the Queen Elizabeth Hall, explore the underwater world of the Hyberbolic Crochet Coral Reef inside the Southbank Centre and play with water in the Appearing Rooms installation outside the Royal Festival Hall. Picnic by the riverside or shelter in the Southbank Centre if it's raining.

Time Travel Tour (Lambeth to the London Eye)

Visit the Imperial War Museum's exploratory exhibitions to see how it was for kids living in World War II, followed by a walk up to the largest green space on the South Bank - Archbishop's Park. Onwards and upwards to look at the London Eye - and there's a great kids playground opposite. Picnic in tranquility at the Tibetan Peace Garden.
