A live music and film performance inspired by Purcell's Dido and Aeneas

Following a sell-out 2008 season of Lost Highway and Punch and Judy, ENO and the Young Vic reunite to celebrate the 350th anniversary of Purcell's birth with a major new production.

Katie Mitchell directs with the team responsible for the National Theatre's multimedia performance of Waves.

The role of Dido will be played by Susan Bickley Susan Bickley Susan Bickley Susan Bickley. Her previous credits with ENO include Falstaff, The Trojans, Twice through the Heart and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. She has appeared in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas twice before, once in the title role for Opera North and once as the Sorceress for De Vlaamse Opera. Her other operatic highlights include Theodora, Boris Godunov and Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk at the Royal Opera House and King Priam, The Trojans, Semele, and Albert Herring at Opera North.

The cast also includes James Gower, Adam Green, Helen Jarmanay, Katherine Manley and Nathan Vale.
