Apple Day 2008
Apple Day 2008

A day of events in and around Borough Market to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Bramley.

Look out for an apple tasting area featuring unusual varieties like the Hounslow Wonder and Kentish Fillbasket, an apple story orchard, apple games and competitions for children, an apple press, toffee apples and a wealth of other apple-related produce.

Don't miss the Apple Peeling Competition that last year achieved a princely winning length of 2ft 4" (the Guinness World Record is 172ft4ins, held by an American since 1976).

Southwark Cathedral will be decorated with a cornucopia of apples for an Apple Day Cathedral Choral Eucharist at 11am.

The drama troupe The Lions part will perform in The Green Market and fun and games to be had by all in the South West Churchyard with The Ministry of Fun. The Refectory will be serving a Bramley Apple echo-ing menu.
