This exhibition marks the seventieth anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, exploring the build-up and preparations for war, an hour-by-hour countdown of events on 3 September 1939 and a look at the early months of the conflict.

Discover the stories of those involved in these historic events on both a national and global scale, from politicians to ordinary civilians

The exhibition uses original artefacts, sound recordings and film to tell the stories of the individuals who lived through these extraordinary times.

The exhibition is in association with an ITV1 documentary.
