1950s noir heist thriller set amongst the bustling London docks.
Black merchant seaman Johnny and his friend Dan are on shore leave.
They encounter racism as soon as they set foot on the dock and problems escalate as they become embroiled in a diamond smuggling racket, which leads to a murder inquiry.
Director: Basil Dearden.
Filming locations included Hay's Wharf and Wild's Rents.
