The FTM is one of the few buildings in London that incorporates strong, vibrant colour into its architectural design.

Zandra Rhodes, founder of the museum and herself a pioneer of the use of flamboyant colour, approached Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta to transform the former warehouse.

Antoni Malinowski talks about the use of colour in architecture. Malinowski is mainly known as an artist, but in recent years he has created some remarkable architectural installations in London, notably a massive painted red wall that is a key part of the re-designed Royal Court Theatre, and the colour scheme of the Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre.
