This month a whole new event comes to Bankside, Borough and London Bridge.

Prepare to battle it out in the fearsomely competitive world of the egg 'n' spoon, sack race, piggyback, wheelbarrow, sprint relay, obstacle course, welly wanging, three-legged and, yes, it has to be⦠the gruelling tug o'war.

Never have so many prepared to battle it out for the honour of their team.

The Mint Cup 2009: (over-18s) Pre-register simply by emailing your name and whether you live, work or study in Bankside, Borough or London Bridge to Come by yourself or with friends (remember to give everyone's details when you register) and you'll be given your team colours on arrival from 5.30pm; warm-up 6pm. Strictly limited places, £5. Fabulous winners' prizes. Ends 8pm

CrossFit: your £5 includes entry into the CrossFit Challenge. Add "CrossFit" to your registration at and test your mettle in this 'superstars' event. CrossFit Central London is new to London Bridge. Simple. Tough. Effective. The Challenge winners will each receive a free CrossFit Foundation Course worth £100.

Family races: everyone is welcome to drop in and join in the free afternoon event. Warm-up 2.30pm, ends 4pm. The children's Playday is also running in the adventure playground midday-4.30 - bouncy castle, mini-beasts hunt, circus skills and much more.

Facilities: free tea and cake for every competitor, plus food and drink on sale. Please bring your own non-breakable cup for a waste-free games. 'Cloakroom' for bags. And don't forget your trainers!

If you live, work or study in north Southwark, come on down.

A Bankside Open Spaces Trust event run in partnership with the London Leaders programme from the London Sustainable Development Commission at City Hall, and supported by Neo Bankside, Southwark Council, Better Bankside and Team London Bridge.
