Virgin Money is throwing a party with adidas to mark its sponsorship of the world's biggest annual charity fundraising event, the Virgin London Marathon.

The event features live music, a big screen to watch the marathon, a kids challenge provided by adidas and a picnic area to soak up the atmosphere.

The event will be hosted by 6 Music's Jo Good and will include guest appearances from adidas athletes including British indoor 3000 metre runner Mo Farah and Olympic Bronze medallist in the 400 metre freestyle swimming event Jo Jackson.

Virgin Angels will also be on hand to give out thousands of balloons, bang bang sticks and inflatable hands to the crowd.

"The area is taken over by the London Marathon each year and we want to give something back to the local community and all those that want to soak up the atmosphere of the very first Virgin London Marathon," says Grant Bather of Virgin Money.

"We want to give Southwark residents a party, to say thank you.

"Set slightly away from the main course, Potters Fields Park will provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of trackside, while giving spectators the chance take part in the special day.

"The event also allows Virgin Money to deliver on its ambition to make 'Everyone Better Off', giving the residents a party, spectators an area to relax and enjoy live music and activities, acts such as Kids Company an opportunity to showcase their talent and Virgin Money the chance to say thank you to Southwark Council and its residents."

Live music will be provided by Kinetika Bloco, the Bollywood Brass Band, the Cosmic Sausages and participants from Kids Company.

Kinetika Bloco are a London based carnival band which includes brass, strings, percussion and vibrant costume and dance. The Bollywood Brass Band will be playing uplifting music while students from Kids Company's Urban Academy will be showcasing their singing, drumming and DJ skills to the crowd.

Each act will perform throughout the day which will start at 9:.5am and run through till 4pm.

"Thank goodness for young people," says Camila Batmanghelidjh at Kids Company.

"They bring so much joy and excitement into all our lives. Performing in collaboration with the Virgin London Marathon is one of those breathtaking examples of highlighting talent."

adidas will be hosting its own adiTOUR and an adventure course for children that will incorporate the sights and landmarks of the Virgin London Marathon in the adiCHALLENGE.
