A range of intriguing pieces which examine the experience of war in new, unusual forms.
Contemporary artists have drawn on a range of sources and inspirations which they have transformed into new, intimate, engaging and sometimes playful artworks, each a limited edition or one-of-a-kind book.
Alongside works by Alfredo Jaar and Paul Coldwell drawing on individual experiences of war, are pieces by artists such as Fiona Banner, and Howard Hodgkin inspired by films, photographs, images and texts to create moving and challenging artist's books and bookworks on the theme of war. Among the items on display are an experimental graphic novel by Oreet Ashery and Larissa Sansour, Ian Hamilton Finlay's controversial and sometime misinterpreted FS, and kennardphillips' innovative transformation of an atlas, Atlas World Times 2008, on public display for the first time.
Transformed is part of Imperial War Museum London's ongoing Breakthrough exhibition, a major re-hang of British war art from the last century to today.
