Thomas Kyd's bloody drama received its first performance at the Rose Theatre in or around 1587, and there is some reason to think that Shakespeare himself might have been in the cast.

his new streamlined production presents the main story, with a magnetic performance by Hayward Morse as Hieronimo, the marshal who assumes madness to take revenge on the murderers of his only son, a ruse which leaves the stage littered with bodies by the end.
