Went tripping along to the Post Office today having seen their "Bring your old phone and we'll give you 5" poster. Gosh, I thought, a tenner. Great. However no one in the Post Office in the Walworth Road knew how to work the system ("We've never had anyone come in for it "). Retired disconsolate. However, I am awash with old phones, old chargers, ear pieces, transformer and what not, where can I take them to recycle? Even without 5?

I used this company recently.

No connection, but a happy customer.

plenty of charities will take old phones. sorry, but I can't remember a specific example, but i've seen quite a few "give us your old phone and we'll use it to raise money for x" adverts recently.

i bet that if you have a favourite major charity then they will be doing this. it's quite a popular scheme, so it may be easily googleable.

good luck

...if you press it, they will come.

I used You can get m&s vouchers or cash (you get more vouchers than cash for the same phone). How much you get depends on the model. I traded in some really old phones and got a few pounds, better than nothing though in hard times!

Thanks everyone. Dont know graham if any of my earphone thingys fit a Sony Ericson, I've got about seven of them, all these wretched phones have different ones. I will try the websites you all suggest (by the way the phones are MOBILES). Cheers.

Here's a good place to compare what you can get:

There is a comparison tool linked to that page.

You can also turn them in to Boots Recycling and get Boots points:

(I just looked into this today as I had an old non-working phone that I didn't want to put in the trash.)

I doubt I'm the only one who enjoyed your play on words.

I sent 10 mobiles to and got 150 for them. Go to their website and the phones are listed with their value. Better than 5 at the post office.
