Wilds Rents. You couldn't make it up.

Wow, I never knew that about Fleru De Lis. I've often seen it on the way back from nights out in East London and thought it's a good name.
Wilds Rents is a good one.

I've always liked Lafone Street. No idea what it means or where it comes from...

Can anyone enlighten me?

Outside of SE1, Ha Ha Road in Woolwich is a classic!

I've googled 'Lafone,' and there is a Alexader Malins Lafone who was a major in the London Yeomanry and won a Victoria Cross in Palestine in the first world war. I can only guess that he was a South Londoner, having been educated at Dulwich College, and also guess that Lafone St. is named after him.
Keyworth School in Faunt St,, Walworth, (my first school,) is also named after a recipeint of the VC. Lance Corporal Keyworth. He was the first of non oficer rank to be awarded the honour.

I like Green Dragon Court.

Also Dockhead. (When I texted a friend the name of the bus stop, she misread it at first. ;D )

I was delighted on a recent visit to Shrewsbury to find a Grope (formerly Gropecounte) Lane.

Does the old 'Pickle Herring Lane' still exist up at Tower Bridge where the new-ish More London now resides? I always like that name so much. Resonant off of the Thames and all it's crazy and industrious goings-on of yore!
I also enjoyed going past 'Ship and Mermaid Row' yesterday on a stroll.

Quilp Street. don't know why, i just like it.

i've an old map of SE1 somewhere which has a road on it, roughly where Southwark Bridge Road runs up to the river, called Bandy Leg Walk.
