Was deeply disappointed by a takeaway from Salaam Ivory Arch this evening. Very watery and an odd texture, though it tasted alright. And the pilau rice was green. The delivery chap also tried to overcharge me (albeit only by 30p). Anyone else had experience of it?

Simon -
No. But after your comments, I don't think that'll be on the top of my list !

They used to be good, at least for vegetarians with a whole separate menu. Also, they had great pictures and testimonials on the wall including one from Ken turning down the kind offer of a free meal. There was a picture of a man painting a wall with a paint roller while a bengal tiger hung by his teeth from the man's face. Never understood that one. To make matters stranger they had a double page spread from a local paper (SLP?) reporting on their competing in the local heat of the National Curry Chef Championship in which they were criticised for their hygiene! No such thing as bad publicity I suppose.

Now they just advertise with a big neon sign that they have "Sexy DJs".

'ts true I used to live round the corner and they were great for veggies - and also fun for a spooky evening out (40 tables and two diners) - looks like it has all changed.

btw - i used 'Tandoori Nights' on trinity streeet the other day (well evening actually) and they are really yum - a recommendation.

might give tandoori nights a second chance then redbus.

first go was disappointing, then discovered Simply Indian and never looked back. but tandoori nights does have the advantage of being (about 50 yards) nearer.

...there's plenty more c**** in the cup.

I just recieved a menu through my letter box from the Ivory Arch @ the Elephant & Castle. I was amused by a name of one particular dish,"The Wrath of Khan".
I desided to order a curry, it was delived on time and piping hot. I enjoyed the food very much but was confused about the reviews in the LondonSE1 forum. I think the reviews are out of date and maybe they've changed their ways.

There is 4 years difference in posting. I would assume that resturants do improve over time!

And that the owner would have posted a glowing review long before now!
