My parents are coming down to London in May. On previous occasions they have stayed at the SBR Novotel, but they seem to have become much more expensive since. They have also stayed at the Rose before, but didn't enjoy it that much. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 4-star Hotel in SE1? Bermondsey Square looks attractive, also from a pricing point of view. Does anyone have any experience?

My company uses Bermondsey Square all the time for our overseas vistors, never had any complaints from them.

I'm not sure of the star rating, but a couple of friends have stayed at the "Hilton London Tower Bridge hotel" on Tooley Street. The restaurant food is excellent but, with some great restaurants very local to the hotel, they eat out most nights. So handy for tube and bus!

also bit different but try Think Apartments - you can rent a 1 bed flat for less than the price of a hotel room - the warehouse ones off Tanner St are the can rent by the night. Otherwise recommend Bermondsey Sq as well...

Thanks for the tips. The Hilton is a bit too pricey and an apartment not really practical, as my parent are getting on a bit. Might give Bermondsey Square a shot.

One last one - my sister has stayed a few times at the Premier Inn on Tower Bridge road. I booked her in using their site. They have a great bar and a good cooked and buffet breakfast.

My parents stayed in the Bermondsey Square Hotel recently and unfortunately their room's window was on a level with a bright street light and the curtains didn't keep the light out very well. I have other friends who have stayed there and loved it though. My Mother did get a VERY good deal for the Bermondsey Square Hotel though through one of the price comparison websites - so overall they were pleased!

Some friends of mine stayed in the Bermondsey Square Hotel last Sunday night for an incredible 64/room. Very good value. Premier Inn on TBR is good too, if a bit less stylish (and also generally more expensive than Bermondsey Square, strangely). Beware the room service at Premier Inn tho - food is great, but I had to carry the plates of food from the bar up to my room myself, putting plates down on the floor to open doors etc. All a bit comedy!

What about the H10 Hotel Waterloo at St George's Circus? It is supposed to be 4 star. It recently opened (last year?) and always looks quite busy.
