Hi All .... I was wondering if anyone knew the exact rules when it comes to parking on yellow lines.

I know the congestion charge finishes at 6pm and always assumed you could park on single yellow lines from 6:30pm. However whenever I do so there are already cars parked (this is on long lane) on the yellows and has made me wonder if they are parking from 6pm or if they have parked from like 6:25pm and chancing it for the 5 mins

Any helo would be appreciated.... it would mean i would be in the gym half hour earlier!

Hope that wasnt to much of a ramble

I'd phone the parking shop or someone with knowledge in case p.c. officers interpret the rules differently, a relative parked outside my house 20 minutes before she should have...big mistake...big fine!

Parking on yellow lines,
how long have you got?
It's mainly about activity when loading, check road side board for details.

For reference the Parking Shop is now closed.

TfL have reasonable guidance about parking on red routes http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/finesandregulations/949.aspx

This site (random Google search. No connection) seems to summarize various borough rules http://www.park-up.com/London_Car_Parking.aspx

City of London seem to give the clearest guidance of the boroughs http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/LGNL_Services/Transport_and_streets/Parking/avoiding.htm
