East Street is wonderful, you have to get there early because the best shrubs get bought up...but there's a terrific selection and it's usually rather cheap as they take left overs from Covent Garden. Sometimes the plants are a bit battered but they will soon revive. Those of you who know my terrace - most of the plants are from East Street. And I usually go and get a few refreshers for the summer. There's a big parking lot so one can load the car up with bigger things. Depending on which end of SE1 you live - I'm at the E&C, - it's great.

The garden centre in camden is amazing, but i don't go very often as if i did i would soon be penniless as the choice is so good. Far too tempting

Interestingly it's also a social enterprise that trains and employs. There's more at http://www.camdengardencentre.co.uk/. No connection etc.

Well I'm on the Rockingham Estate, which is where the Allotments are located so I'm looking for some inexpensive stock for the residents while they're preparing their seeds!

On another note, does anyone know where we could get some inexpensive water butts/water harvesting stuff?

Oh yes. I forgot so say again. Thanks for all the info. It's been very helpful.

If anyone does know where we could get some inexpensive water butts/water harvesting stuff I'd be grateful!

On Friday lunch time there was an opportunity to buy great herbs and even strawberry and other plants at the little public space in Melior Street.

I think it is run by a homeless charity and as I understood it they'll be there on a regular basis.

Very nice and friendly and my new oregano pot looks happy on my window sill.

Sorry for not having more, detailed, information on that project. Maybe somebody else can fill in the fact gap, please?

I've got all mine from Ebay this year and I've been very pleased with the quality and the prices.

Thanks for those... has anyone any information regarding the Melior Street herbs sale? It sounds quite interesting. I, and a few other friends, are also looking to stock our balcony. I do love fresh herbs! Went to the East Street market and got some and some tomato plants so doing OK at the moment!

In Bermondsey Square last Saturday there were two different stalls selling plants that amounted to a wide selection.

Sorry - the Voyager Estate at the end of Frean street beginning of ness street. There are four arches there. One is also host to kappacesin (?) now the cheese maker from borough. Two other traders are opening in between as well and I spied a couple of fridges in one on my way past about a week ago....
