I have just got an email from Tony Phelan about setting up a meeting about the single delivery (atarting on 6th Sept) and also covering some off our other queries. The dates he's suggested are: Friday 27th or the following Wednesday 1st September. My feeling is we'll get more people along to a wednesday meeting - do others agree? If so, I'll say yes to the 1st and then further details t/c as soon as...

Don't think you'll get anyone along to a meeting the Friday before a Bank Holiday !

1st September is definitely better.

Thanks Hat !

Oh yes - didn't spot that - I'll say 1st of September to Tony then. How shall we promote this lovely meeting - apart from the lovely James putting it on his website. Once the details are finalised, is someone willing to email/phone the details around to the local press, so that as many people as possible can come?

As soon as the details are confirmed I will plug the meeting in the SE1 Direct newsletter - currently 3650 subscribers.

That should do it - I wonder if the room in Madela Way is big enough....

Even if 1% of your subscribers appear, James, that's a large number of people!

I've just spoken to Tony Phelan and the date for the meeting is Weds 22nd of September at 7pm. The single delivery should start on the 6/7th of Sept, so it should have been in place for a couple of weeks by then, and so people will have a better idea of whether it's working or not! Tony needs an idea of numbers, so can people let me know (either by PM or on here) if you'll be attending. James - can you do your thing and publicise this to your thousands of subscribers?

Latest Royal Mail service figures suggest that South East London is amongst the worst places in the country for getting your mail delivered on time (or at all !). In other news, it is confirmed the Pope is Catholic.

The same story in the Guardian at,11489,1294121,00.html

It gives quite a lot of quotes from Postwatch, who seem increasingly critical of the postal service (contrary to what a lot of us thought earlier.)

eg "For the last three years customers have been paying higher prices for a declining service."

Good to see our opinions verified by a much larger voice......

I'll come. I used to work at Postcomm on the post offices side of things (one year ago now) and know quite a few people at Postwatch, so could have useful background knowledge.

Recently had wedding invite, magazine subscription not arrive and premium bonds arrive one year late.
