I was very impressed with the new independant shop called Lost and Found in the old Lighting Shop in TBR, which opened on Saturday. It was the improbable sight of a vaulting horse in the window which made me stop and look!
Nice, chatty people inside - happy to explain what they do in the workshop in the back half of the shop: they specialise in reclaimed flags (reworked by hand in India and so a worthy provenance!) but also sell some nice steel furniture and Michelin-man lamps etc.
Prices are more Bermondsey Street than TBR, but buying is not compulsory ! Very cool vibe - I wish them all the best.
Now if the dear old Hartley can only fire up again (under new management, the sign in the window says - proclaiming itself as a "new" gastropub), then my weekly trip to the chaotic but strangely wonderful ImageMagic laundry and dry-cleaners might become a little brighter.
And did I also glimpse La Fermata open again..? Come on TBR - with the novelty of Caribbean Cuisine (much praised on this site recently) complementing Manze's old-style Pie and Mash and stalwarts like Kardo's barbers and the hardware store at London Builders Merchants hanging on in there - it's all looking good!
