I ate at The Charles Dickens On Union Street Last Sunday with the family, Roast Beef, Chicken, Lamb or Vegetarian option £8.95 for all, extra Roast Potatoes £1.95 and it was the hottest dinner I have ever had out anywhere I am sure! Was definitely cooked fresh we waited half hour or more but well worth it. The roast dinner only comes with 3 roast potatoes which is not enough in my opinion,(they could increase this to 6 without hitting their profit margin too hard I am sure!) somebody recommended the place to me and warned me of the lack of roast potatoes hence we ordered the extra portion (Which was a dish containing 9 more)and enjoyed it very much.
The website or Twitter tells you where they are on each day but most weekends they seem to be behind the Festival Hall. We had an excellent lunch from there last week.
Pitt Cue Co
No website - details on Twitter - they're parked up under Hungerford Bridge for the summer. Fantastic pulled pork, slow cooked beef and good rum punches.
Sunday roasts at the Gladstone on SBR come in at more like £11 but are a cut above, not only in price. For cheaper but pleasant, try the Trinity next to Borough tube.
