During the late night/early morning hours we can clearly hear a bell ringing to indicate the time at the top of each hour - from Shad Thames.

The sound seems to be carried from a fair distance away. I'm guessing it's from a church, but does anyone know exactly where this sound is coming from?

St George TM next to Borough tube?

unless they've fixed the chime mechanism, I wasn't aware St George TM chimed the hours (and I don't live anywhere near it so not like I go near it regularly).

Are you sure it's coming from Shad Thames? - I have never heard any bells.

On a quiet night, if you live near-ish the river you can hear hour-bells coming across from the north bank. One of the many benefits of living in this area :)

Would you like to go with me?
Where?
Wherever I'm going
Are you *really* asking?
Is that your *real* answer?

We are hearing it in Shad Thames - no idea where it is coming from but it seems to be from North of the river.

Amazed at how far sound can carry in London on a quiet night.

Any other guesses on which church??

It's Big Ben - the sound travels along the river on still nights. I even heard it standing next to the Thames in Kings Stairs Gardens - SE16!
