I have a book which my father won as a prize at Laxon Street Boys School in April 1920 (it is not very clear - he would have been 11 at the time).

Did anyone have a parent at the school at that time and does anyone know anything about the Bermondsey Schools Swimming Association? My father was called William Wiessner and at some time was head boy at school (possibly at Laxon St) and won medals for swimming, though maybe not at school.

I remember getting certificates for swimming as a child, they used to come in 25/50/75 yards Ursula, that as I remember was the length of the pool once/twice and thrice....don't know what happened to mine though, Mum had them pinned up for a while, then through the years these went the same way as my swimming skills...kaput..
