Does anyone know what's happening to the building on the corner of Bermondsey and Morocco Streets? Is it being pulled down or done up? I can't quite work it out.

I always rather liked the building.

More flats? A restaurant?

The proposal may have changed (as these things do) but I understood that 3 floors of residential (down from 4 in the first proposal) were to be built on top of the 'pediment' formed by the walls of what was once the Midland Bank.

I understand that the occupants of the ground floor, EDC, will be returning to the building when the work is completed.

Whether it adds to or detracts from what is left of the Bermondsey Street Conservation Area will be a matter of opinion. What is certain is that the most important junction within the Conservation Area will be significantly altered by this development.

Watch that space.
