Can anybody recommend a decent pool near Southwark Park/Grange Road? Ideally I'd like to pay as you go, but would consider a monthly arrangement if it's not too expensive.

Seven Islands Leisure Centre is probably your best bet.

Thanks James - the reviews I've seen from a quick Google search are pretty awful, but I'll check it out.

At the Thomas Guy club near London Bridge you can pay quarterly:

Re: Seven Islands: it's cheap, it's 33m and it is often very quiet (during lane swimming times). OK, it's very shabby, but if you just want a decent swim at a low price, it is the best bet in this area.

Beth: we used to think just like you until we met a cockroach in the lockers a few months ago...

We go to St Georges (north of the river) or the new pool near Clapham Common.

Ok - thanks for the tips. I'm surprised how underserved SE1 is.

Agree, you do have to run the gauntlet of the changing rooms first! Aren't they supposed to be having a major refurb soon? I do hope so. i've got a soft spot as I did my swimming lessons there and they are such a nice bunch of people, they deserve better conditions.
