Just read the article about Shard restaurants levying a cover charge to prevent sightseers buying a coffee in order to admire the view. Fair enough but I was gobsmacked to find that the visitor charge for the viewing galleries is just under 30. Am I the only person who thinks this outrageous? I definitely won't be going at that price.

It is of course very expensive, but I will be going, I just won't do it very often. Considering the London Eye charges about 20, it's not too bad for what will be a breathtaking view.

Blimey - thirty quid. Seems a bit steep I must say.(no pun intended).

I'm not paying that, I will wait for a Groupon offer.

The cost is 24.95 which compares with other tall buildings around the world for visiting and is somewhat cheaper than some in NY.

I'll just put on a boiler suit, dayglo jacket, carry a tool bag, have something bright hanging off a lanyard and mutter darkly about 'Somefink being wrong with the radiators.'

25 is good value for what it is, and compared to other similar attractions.

The on the door price is 29.95 - the 24.95 is the discounted rate for online booking.

I Dubai they charge something like 25 for on-line and 80 for turning up....can't rememeber exactly but still doesn't make the Shard expensive comparitively

I think it's been said before - but I think The Shard should discount entry for locals for all the noise we put up with.

They could discount you at the door if you have a utility bill with an SE1 postcode.

It won't happen, of course!
