I have just been through Tabard Park and have seen a workmen in a mechanical digger just ripping up all the well established bushes- what on earth is going on?!?!?! There is no need to do this, they are all very tidy looking and somewhere for the birds to go. Also not sure if its the same workmen, but tress, and shrubs have been pruned around the football pitch, right next to the flats and all the cuttings have just been left there. Anyone know?

The council was working on the trees and bushes in Tabard Gardens all week.

I was at a meeting with the police recently were they said that in some areas of Chaucer ward they had been finding knives/weapons stashed in bushes and underground - perhaps this had something to do with the bushes being ripped out?
