Does anyone know what the deal is with the Royal Salsa on Harper Road. Looks like it used to be a pub, but looks like its been out of action for a while. Occasionally I walk past and it looks like they've got events on, but today I walked past and it looked pretty derelict. Would like to find out a bit about he history of it
It used to be a pub called the Royal Standard until a couple of years ago when they repainted the sign (I think it's called "Royal S Salsa" as a nod to the old name.
Even in the old days, it was very much a pub where the curtains always appeared to be drawn, and the door closed. I love pubs, and live very close by, but I've never felt like it would be a good idea to go in there.
Rather like the Buddha Lounge at the other end of the terrace of shops on Harper Road, I have no idea how this place makes any money trading as the business it claims to be.
I'd love someone to come on here and tell me that all my preconceptions are totally unfounded.
