If you haven't already heard, the Bermondsey Street Odyssey exhibition opens at Tanner House, Tanner Street this coming Tuesday (11am-6pm), and runs until Saturday 21st September. Thursday 19th has a late night until 8pm.

The idea behind the exhibition was to bring together art, history and film from three eras;

Henry Thorne, the life of a journeyman leather dresser
A specially designed wall display helps to tell the true story of Henry Thorne, a leather dresser who moved from Somerset in the 1850's to start a new life in Bermondsey.

Bermondsey and beyond - Bermondsey Street and the wider area, captured on video
A selection of videos shot in 1988 and 1989 and including new unseen footage of the Bermondsey Village Fete from 1991, all well before the area was redeveloped.

Bermondsey Street - Prints from 2012 - 2013
A year long project inspired by a 19th century photo, capturing some of the atmosphere in and around Bermondsey Street during 2012 and 2013.

Also showing, a new short film by Amy Ryles and Jude Bliss, #55 about the life of one of the buildings in Bermondsey Street.
