To be honest, I feel like I've just been dissed by Pieces of Eight. I'm sure I'm just reading it wrong and he/she didn't mean to come across as rude towards me or other people at all.
I don't usually comment on these sorts of forum threads and I did think, before typing, that I might be criticised for going against the consensus view on this thread. Obviously though, what I write - what anyone writes - can be picked over and commented on, poked fun at even, in some cases.

But then I thought, how could anyone be offended? It's all healthy debate and a polite airing of views. It's only my opinion and I thought I had been quite balanced. I can see how some people would find the name offensive, especially those with children, strong religious or moral views etc, but personally I find it OK and I imagine others are OK with it too. IMHO.
Fuckoffee.

It's just tacky and naff.

It's just that I find "hipsters" (oh how I despise that word) so utterly annoying.

What is it that annoys you about them? It's very trendy to hate/despise/be annoyed by hipsters it seems, to the degree that it's become a clichè. I wasn't even consciously aware of hipsters until it became fashionable to lay into them. There are indeed more pressing matters, like Nipsters.

Oh I don't know Edward, they are just part of that select group that I place in my "annoying" box. Like folks who prattle non stop on their mobiles on the bus in the morning. Or those awful "TOWIE" types. Russell Brand. People who hail Russell Brand as some political messiah. Chuggers. "Made in Chelsea" morons. Braying city types etc etc. I don't "despise" them. I certainly despise those "nipsters". Then again, I also despise the news channel "Russia Today", the media mouthpiece for that odious little gangster in the Kremlin.

Fair enough. Couldn't comment on TOWIE, agree on Russell Brand and his disciples and RT is propagandistic nonsense but it was the first vid I found on Nipsters. Hipsters still don't bother me, the trend for everyone to slag them off I find a bit ridiculous though. The Fuckoffee story reminds me of a story about some coffeeshop owners, huge Rolling Stones fans who called their establishment "Sticky Fingers", after the Stones album but also Bill Wyman's chain of burger bars. Wyman threatened to sue them unless they changed the name. They gave in and called the place "Why, Man?", which got them loads of free publicity while Bill was made to look like a right old humourless fart.

I think the heroin association would be a bad PR move for a shop that specialises in selling pot and space-cakes, no? Great song though.

Hah! Stella Street! Genius!

It's a coffee shop, with a bit of a try hard name. Personally stuff like that makes me cringe, but more for the sense of the owners seemingly wanting/needing to appear cool with a funny/offensive/play on words name. (Delete as you will)

I'm a parent. If my kids can read it and laugh/get offended we'd talk about it. I would not go out of my way to explain it / point it out to them (do kids read shop signs, especially when they are that addressed ghost up?). Then again, it's far from my favourite coffee spot in the area anyway.
