Heard on BBC news just now that islington Council are doing something about Buy to Leave investors.
Here is the link.

I wonder if Southwark Council might consider doing something about the empty homes in our borough?

A year or so ago we did some research using Census 2011 data on occupancy etc and found c.14% empty homes in areas around Canary Wharf but only c.3% around SE16. But I do notice lights in some non-council tall buildings not turning on week after week and that suggest to me that the flats are empty a lot of the time.

What about the Shard? That still has sections unlit at night. Is the thought of making "shared accommodation" in the Shard for young people of working age at <100 a week too revolutionary???

Or Maydew House? Not suitable for older people we're told, so why not a specialist block for younger working age people?

And so on. So much that could be done. But isn't but its not in the script handed to the plastic parrots.
