Dirty pavements

Having lived in the area since 2007, I feel as though there has been a noticeable deterioration in the state of local pavements.

In particular, the amount of (apologies!) animal waste and vomit seems to have increased markedly - Long Lane, Borough High Street and Union Street being particularly affected. Slightly less unpleasant are the large stains caused by dropped food, coffees and the like.

The council seems to struggle to keep the pavements clean (understandable given the size of the borough and the scale of the problem), so local businesses and residents do a good job in cleaning up the worst areas.

Has anyone else noticed this - maybe it was always this bad?
