A unique new online sexual health service called SH:24 has gone live - SH:24
SH:24 aims to modernise sexual health care by offering free test kits, information and advice to residents of Southwark and Lambeth 24/7.
SH:24 has brought together local people, public health experts, doctors, other healthcare professionals, designers and software developers to create a confidential online STI testing service to improve access to sexual health services - fully integrated with existing NHS services.
The service hasn't been delayed - rather we have been soft launching the service - serving over 250 users to date.
We are working in partnership with the NHS, with two local NHS Foundation Trusts. Having developed the service with the guidance and support of lead NHS clinicians, users of SH:24 are provided with an integrated pathway into local specialist sexual health clinics if they receive a positive result/require further support.
A CIC model has been used to foster a partnership across multiple organisations and to take a unique approach to designing this type of service.
SH:24 manages and stores patient data in a way that mirrors the NHS information governance (IG) standards. This has been undertaken with the input and support of local Trust IG committees. All personally identifiable data is held on secure servers within the NHS N3 network.
