For Balance I'd note that Uber drivers, like all minicab drivers in London, and their vehicles must be registered. Their vehicle must be roadworthy and they are subject to the same criminal record checks as black cab drivers.

Personal I prefer black cabs for most journeys, but I like the luxury of an Uber for longer journeys.
