I think that's Ansbach & Hobday's cunning plan but one of the issues is that they can only do it with one of the big PubCo's who insist on co-branding etc. which is not ideal for an independent brewer..
I'm happy to pay a premium for delicious craft beer. And the Kernel's IPAs are up there with the best. But the prices in some of the local pubs are eye-watering - £7 a pint or more for Kernel in the Draft House or Dean Swift and £6.50 for a bottle at the Miller. Given that elsewhere in London you can get imported craft beers of similar standing at £5-6 a pint, the margins at some of the SE1 pubs do seem excessive.
