I also don't think it is right for the Street. The design is going to ruin what is a lovely building on a great period street.
Furthermore, the students who gather in the courtyard are only going to be pushed out onto the pavements outside and the street to smoke. Also - getting rid of the mature trees is a travesty. EF are only looking for commercial gain, if as you say the 'need' this canteen area, sure there are enough commercial buildings they could move to. Perhaps then, it can be commandeered back again as a primary school for the area. It isn't like we aren't short of places! What is the point of a conservation area, if it has no actual power to stop things like this?
It's not about saving Roupell Street, the terrace houses are perfectly safe. It's about stopping the extension to the school. I have put in an objection to the planning application because the design is totally inappropriate for the street, but this current exaggeration and petition to 'save the street' is very annoying.
