Paramount is just amusing himself trolling the forum with anti-cycling rants....

I was thumbing through a book of old Punch cartoons when I came across this one. Check out the date, 1938. Nothing changes.[/img]

James, thanks for the help with the link

I'm yet to see anyone use it. It's a monument to waste

Plenty use it on St George's road. Let's wait and see until works are completed and the nice weather cyclists emerge from their hibernation.

If cyclists are only go to use it in nice weather (if we ever get any!), perhaps other road traffic could use it when they don't want it?

Official guidance used to be that faster cyclists should use the road, not the cycle lane. Above 18mph the road is safer. Or the cyclist could shun the lane cos they are turning right later. You have no idea, so your churlish resentment toward people who may very well have perfectly decent reasons to shun the lanes is depressing. "Get on the cycle lane" is what chavvy kids yell at cyclists from stupid souped-up Corsas.

Gosh, such needless aggression. Actually, I wasn't being churlish, nor am I resentful (of what exactly?), I was having a bit of fun. Is that no longer allowed?

At Mile End the segregated bit ends suddenly just before a junction. It's crazy, using that lane feeds to slap bang into danger. So cyclists stay away from it and get abuse and deliberate close passes from drivers who think the lanes are mandatory. None is.

This one:

It's just incredibly depressing that cyclists who sensibly avoid such a death trap get aggression and hostility from stupid drivers if they cycle on the road.

Or this beauty near my house:

Seriously, would you FORCE children to ride their bikes there?
