The council called - Long Lane is indeed council, not TFL responsibility. They are going to look at sorting out the area around Tesco as a priority, and they have earmarked the Bermondsey street corner for repair at some point in the new year - although this isn't classed as a repair, but improvement work to fix what was left after the building development there - so it may take a bit longer to sort out. They have no idea why i'd have been told it was TFL rather than the council, but are now on to it.

Incidentally, they've resurfaced the areas around Bermondsey street - they're working on that at night to minimise disruption.

So we're getting new pavements on the corner of Long lane and Bermondsey street.

Other patches have been done too, so hopefully we'll be on our way to them finally being sorted.

Hopefully and at one stage Southwark will also finally target how to impose the 20mph limit along the road.

Deficient speed limit signage, lack of additional pedestrians crossings, cars speeding out of limits and Southwark knows the issue as a year ago local police / community group did a speed test and a big majority of motorists went well over the speed limit.

Its become a rat run since all the roads around have been closed, and people are avoiding going around the elephant. We've noticed more and more traffic using it and no one keeps to the 20mph limit.

Do you know the department of the Council we should escalate the issue to? Many thanks

The part I always found frightening was outside The Simon, opposite archdale house...the road seems narrower there than other parts. And traffic seems faster!

Already sent last week an email to traffic.orders@southwark.gov.uk, specially noting the speed on that part of the street. Don't have too many hopes they'll do something but better trying than waiting for an accident to happen.
