hi - i'm back living in Borough! i'm looking to buy a decent road bike to cycle around on having had mine stolen recently. on a very tight budget. i've found one recycled bike shop in E & C but wondered if there were others in this area. also if you have a bike you're not using i might be interested

I was looking for a cheap, but decent bike after mine was stolen 2 years ago, but couldn't find a good second hand shop. I tried the E&C one you mentioned, but at the time they only had expensive ones.
Since then I discovered Squeaky Chains in King's Bench Street, which I've used happily for repairs and I'm sure they sell bikes too.
Unfortunately judging from their website they have moved to Camberwell / Peckham. Very sad.

If you head down Walworth Road there's Bob's Cycles on John Ruskin Street, and Edwardes on Camberwell Road.

Don't know if they sell bikes but the prosaically-named 'London Bicycle Repair Shop' on Hatfields off The Cut might have something in. Otherwise they're the place to go for parts and servicing. I have an overwhelming urge to ask to borrow their tools, because of the big sign that says "we DO NOT lend tools".

London Bicycle Tour Company at Gabriels Wharf regularly sell off their ex-hire bikes so might have some in

If you go a bit further Harbour Cycles on Coldharbour Lane Camberwell SE5 has them

On Your Bike at Borough Market also sell off their hire bikes - good value and in my experience, excellent after sales service too.
