I live just off the cut and seems the local delivery has got worse than ever before . Even though I know we have had problems for years It now seems weekend deliveries are very hit and miss along with other days
mail gets delivered anything from 0900 until 1500 and the reason my back is up now is I have had quite a few letters go missing lately , including 3 credit cards in the past 2 months ?? (each one a replacement for the one before it that didn't get delivered !! )
Lots of my post was going missing. Basically, anything official looking (bank statements, insurance documents). I complained to Royal Mail, who weren't interested.
The thieves were getting enough information to be able to apply for credit cards in my name and address. They then intercepted all the post (including the new cards) so that the first I knew about it was when strange direct debits in favour of credit & store card companies I'd never had any dealings with appeared on my current account.
At this point, I'd proof of a crime being committed and I called the Police.
The police asked me who I thought was stealing my post. When I couldn't tell them, they asked me how they might find out. I pointed out that that was the sort of thing they were supposed to be specialists in. In spite of the on-going nature of the crime, they weren't interested and closed the case.
My bank was very supportive. I didn't end up out of pocket, but the associated admin was a pain for a few weeks.
ninja - as in the main thread hate to post it but the post;
The patterns you describe is what we have endured here of SBR for 10 yrs plus - it goes of waves of getting a bit better then plunges again into appalling service and crime. I an only suggest you report in particular the credit cards to the police.
Last Autumn - I had an item stolen - yes stolen by the sort office - usual red card saying we tried to deliver when I was in - then item goes missing. In this instance I contacted head office and they ordered Mandela Way to search - but deliberately did not say what was in the parcel. After a lot of palaver - I got a call from Mandela Way -saying we cannot find your ( and then tripping themselves up) as they went on to describe the item perfectly. Head office though would not admit theft and used every other word around theft to describe the incident but did pay for the item plus compensation because I said I was going to the police.
I had exactly the same as Rambling Phil several years ago - in ID was systematically stolen along the way - statements etc- and fraudulent accounts set up - which led to all sort of nightmares.
I have now decided just to report any definite missing items to the police ( as I said in my cases -it is usually after 'we tried to deliver' card is left that the matter occurs) That way you can kick off/ contact head office with your crime reference number.
Head office is [email protected]
RM are fully aware of the crime at the worst and the enduring bad service that goes on at Mandela Way ( and I am not saying everybody there is criminal - but there is too many incidents to have any doubt there is some organisation to these incidents) but refuse to take responsibility for it- BUT they are not above the law!
It's fine here when our regular postie is working - but if he goes on holiday it's fits and starts until his return. Then he has to sort out all the problems and get the post delivered in record time.
Oh yes, and the other week a 'stand-in' postman forced a £2.80 worth of padded parcel through the letter box, it hit the doorstep and fell on the mat and the contents were damaged, I actually heard the crack.
And yet when you go to the post office they get all sniffy about making sure your large letter fits through their plastic postbox template!
I've resigned myself to doing the postman's job as 9 times out of 10 the mail that actually makes it through my door is for a completely different address and I find myself walking the streets and delivering it to the correct owners.
Last week I had 10 HMRC letters through my door. None were for me. All different addresses.
( as in the main thread for this)I do the same - report it to Moya green's office - they claim I am the only person who does this! They told me to put the post back in the post box...........
Just off SBR NO post last 7 days for whole block......
Once or twice a week I get a delivery of letters for various addresses in my street. I used to put them back in the post box, but given the rarity of deliveries I now deliver them in the hope my neighbours will do the same.
If there was a way not to have to rely on Royal Mail for letters and statements I would!
Yup, only two weeks ago we had two separate gifts sent to us disappear in the post. One had a red card but never turned up at Mandela way, the other just disappeared en-route. It was a shame because I only accidentally shared my home address with the friends. We never give our home address to family and friends any more, lest they send us something and think we're impolite for not saying thank you, when in actual fact it was stolen en route.
from my previous post

So REECE may be worth you getting in touch with head office as you should get compensation
We have had deliveries this week - having not had one for 8 days (just off SBR) I myself have not had a single item of post for nearly 3 weeks ( not even junk) and I know Thames Water and my CC company have sent post.......
