I could make a one off donation of say 20 but could not do the monthly fee, would that help, if so, please let me know how.

Thanks all for the comments, support and suggestions.

We'll be adding a 'sponsor an hour of local journalism' option very soon.

In the meantime here are a couple of pieces about us in the trade press this week:

Today Prof Charlie Beckett of the LSE tweeted a link to his recent blog post, which is apposite:

Only too happy to sign up and I really hope you get the necessary level of take-up as it would be a great loss if the website couldnt continue.
If only some of the businesses featured in the astroturfing hall of shame could be convinced to pay for advertising that would help too ;)

I agree with Ivanhoe, perfectly happy to get newsletters by email and save on the postage.

Ditto. Signing up as soon as I can sort out the complications of Paypal!

PayPal is really easy and will prove its worth time and again, you'll have to keep your eye on online spending in future though !
I do hope that most of us are rallying to the SE1 call, losing our website doesn't bear thinking about. I was also thinking that having a regular hard copy newsletter would cost so much in postage, paper, envelopes and man power. We won't expect this extra, I'll just add my voice to say "thank you for everything" but please don't worry about a newsletter, nice though it would be, this isn't why we're clubbing together. We need our online, first and foremost.Best of luck with the venture.

I'm waiting for an alternative to PayPal despite reassurances from some others. sorry, but I have too many phishing emails about this payment method. Any update, James?

It's likely to be a few days before we can offer another payment method but we are working on it. It depends how efficient the NatWest bank is. On past performance I'm not holding my breath.

If the NW DD doesn't work out I'll do the PP thing later this week. We can't sleep walk into the demise of this website. James, why not just mail out to everyone to give them a nudge. There seems to be loads of names missing from this thread.

Thanks, James. Have set up a DD just now and I hope you receive enough support for the website to continue!

I have also subscribed.
Bon courage James.
By the way, do you still print little cards for advertising London SE1?
