The Friends of Archbishops have been going a year now, and have made some real progress, though we are also learning that there are some heavy interests tied up in regeneration, and that something like making SE1s largest green space even more attractive for the benefit of local people does not always tie in with other agendas.

We have now been given permission to launch a community led regeneration bid. If you are at all interested in green space and in ensuring that there are community facilities for young and old alike, can you help? We need volunteers to help us run activities, deliever leaflets etc, we need some more Committee members, we would love to hear from anyone who would like to help with our regeneraiton bid, particularl anyone with book-keeping/administration experience (there may be some money available here to provide some renumeration), and people to join our group (already one of the largest Friends groups in Lambeth).

Come and hear what is going on. Our AGM is at 7.30 on Monday 18 June in China Walk Tennants Hall. (The third building on the left as you enter Lambeth Walk from Lambeth Rd). Good endorsement for what we plan to do will strengthen our negotiating position.

And if you do not know where the park is, don't be surprised. It is really hidden away, but has an entrance opposite St Thomas' A&E. And it has the best playground for miles around.

If you want ot know more, send me an e-mail. And don't forget we have two playleaders in the park every Saturday from 11am-1pm organising activities for kids aged 5-11.
