Yes, retiring after 35 years. A thriving business and a proper butcher, who bought whole lambs and sides of beef, then butchered them himself into all the individual cuts. I find it hard to believe he can do this for a living and not be able to slice some beef thinly which, incidentally, he always does for me. Very odd.

I'm not sure what your saying here suzig. Could you clarify .

Oh, not just me then :)
Possibly just the two of you. Makes perfect sense to me...

...if you press it, they will come.

This is gutting to hear. They were always kind with bones for the dogs as well. It will be a huge loss to the area. :(((((

Sorry for any confusion. I was replying to MarcoC's comment that the butcher didn't have the tools to cut thin slices of beef. My point was that if he can butcher whole sheep , cows and pigs, cutting thin slices of beef is unlikely to be much of a challenge. Anyway, it's not important - just wanted to give a good review of the place. From my experience it's always been a good butcher and, an added bonus, they would get in anything you asked for, whether they normally stocked it or not. I've ordered venison, pheasants, quail, rabbit and various other things over the years, so I'm definitely going to miss the shop.

Sounds like we should all want to come over to yours for dinner Suziq :)

Haha - best keep my address secret in that case. Anyway, now the butcher's shop is closing, our culinary delights may need a re-think!!
