Austerity may be over but Waterloo Action Centre has a waiting list of homeless people asking for sleeping bags. With the cold weather this is growing. If you have a sleeping bag to spare please drop it in for Asher (who co-ordinates this). WAC , 14 Baylis Rd , SE1 7 AA , open 9- 9 weekdays and also much of the weekend.
Thanks very much to Harry, we don't know his other name, a local resident. Having read about the need for sleeping bags for homeless people he bought one into Waterloo Action Centre. Hearing that Asher who volunteers by running our recycling had 9 homeless people on her waiting list for sleeping bags, Harry went out and bought her two more. Great that there are people like Harry and Asher around! We still need sleeping bags please..
Thank you very much. Asher will be there with the recycling on Saturday from about 11. There are other activities in WAC until 9pm on Friday and from 10 am on Sat so someone would be there during who could take the bags. A significant percentage of the homeless people requesting them are former members of the armed services. Jenny
