Apparently 'sponsors village' would be a better description.

Wouldn't it be lovely if our public spaces weren't occupied regularly by commercial 'festivals', rubbish Christmas markets (of which you could find better examples in any 2nd rate German town), bogus event villages, etc. etc.? It's just a pipedream, I know...

I guess we had the chance, with Corbyn.

I am truly mystified by the optimism some people seem to have placed in Jeremy Corbyn. Not only he was going to unite the country, end all poverty and avert climate change but also tidy up Christmas markets.

Those big outdoor screens used to appeal to me, until that idiotic thing about throwing beer in the air caught on to such a degree. Plus the fact that you have to get there 5 hours early to stand any chance of seeing anything.

Anyway, stxmld your link didn't work for me, maybe this one will: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/uefa-euro-2020-0/fan-zones/euro-2020-potters-fields-park-football-village-faqs

There didn't seem to be anything very informative in the FAQs though. Personally I'll be watching in the pub or at home.

I never voted for Corbyn, but I am pretty sure he would have increased funding to councils thus taking away the need for them to earn pennies here and there by renting out our parks to private concerns.
