Pity they could have recovered the wonderful shop fittings from Youngs down t,b,r, they had an old clock, wooden shelves, tiled floor, I must dig out my photos of Jack in there ( was a grocery shop, he cooked hams, beef, sold cheese, loose, ham was stuck on a ham stand) its now a nigerian shop, sells wigs etc., still has shop sign as youngs i think....

Youngs did great cheeses and all hand cut not in nasty polythene wrappers

Perhaps the shop and Simons are linked as both seem to be taking a long time and no ones knows what is happening! they are trying to tease us all-lets hope both are worth waiting for!!!

Might be a long wait - a new sign in the window is advertising a deli for rent ...

That's VERY strange, isn't it? I mean, they've branded it already. The message is on groovy blackboards with an e-mail address for Miss Jones, so I wonder if it's another tease ... not very effective if it is, just confusing.

Looks like if we want a deli we are going to have to open one ourselves

Wonder if we could persuade Tas Ev to open a satellite branch?

I sent a message to the email address on the window and got the following (strange) reply. Still doesn't explain exactly what's going on there!

"as it's a community project we're looking ideally for a business
partner who wants to take it over and make it their own business, with
or without our investment.

this person would need to have a proven business background if we were
to invest unless they wanted to take the lease on under their own
terms.

however, if i've no doubt there will also be someone required to help
run the deli, whatever the outcome.

More info relating to Miss Jones deli..........

"when i say community i don't mean council sponsored. it's a group of
private local home owners who decided to take their environment and
what happened to it into their own hands. by challenging the change
of use to a take away kebab shop and raising the money to purchase the
freehold, design the shop and name of the deli."

Pity about the choice of colour [the blue I mean], subtle it aint and it's almost as bad a blue as Southwark Councils choice, but at least it attracts attention to the shop. Progress was being made on shopfitting yesterday, but it appears to be painfully slow.
