Don't know, apparently in Union street they tried this one way system about a year ago. Tina Banford, licensee of the Nelson pub, spoke to Simon Hughes expressing her concerns as cars with no where to go would drive around Nelson Square to turn around in a residential area with children not used to this influx of traffic. In Tinas words they drove around the square like grand prix racers. Simon put it to Southwark council that children could be hurt and it was abolished........One year later.........This was, and still is a park where many young children play. The fact that traffic is now being diverted around this square is of great concern. Apparently, the reason behind it, is because of the great success of the Tate gallery. While we wish it every success, we do not want it at the expense of a child.......maybe if the council actually discussed their propositions with local people, their wouldn't make such silly decisions to make a very busy road a one way system.
