Warre's 1977. £11.99. That must be the bargain of the millennium, surely. Sadly they only had the one bottle.

They only had one bottle at a bargain price!
You could be questioned on suss of 'handling'.

Its probably been on the shelf since 1978. How much dust did you have to clean off???

I hadn't thought that it might be hot, Phoney. Mulled port anybody???

It wasn't on the shelf when I last went in 3 weeks ago - for a bottle of export strength Guinness. No really!

Drat, missed that one

Berry Bros & Rudd online have just 2 bottles left at £56.

"Full Bodied, Sweet, Ready, but will keep. The 1977s have reached the early stage of what will prove to be a long and distinguished life. Hugely enjoyable now it will only get better. "

Nickolls And Perks have 21 bottles in stock for £50.21+VAT i.e. £59

Edited to add: but "bargain hunters" should note that as well as cases at £431, Fine and Rare Wines http://www.frw.co.uk/ have five bottles left at £36. (collect from bonded warehouse or £15 delivery

I found some at the bargain price of £30 when I looked. Try www.wine-searcher.com. (Almost as cheap as the case of 1980 (not such a good year) I bought whilst an undergraduate. There's a bottle still left somewhere in my cellar, I think.)

Pinky's also sell George Gardet champagne at 10.99. That's extremely good value fizz at that price.

I'm lucky enough to have bought a case of Warre '77 in (I think) the late 1980s. Drank the first bottle this Xmas and it was excellent. Though not sure if it has been an especially good financial investment: I think I paid a bit over £10 per bottle. Still nice to anticipate the other 11 though! And since the topic moved on to Champagne, do you know the Champagne Club at the Great Eastern? A great evening every couple of months or so tasting a few wines from a particular house.

Have all the easy rider (cider) drinkers been blown away? Is Ivanhoe no longer with us?

You can't get rid of us that easily! Stan, myself and Rabbie have already spoken on this thread.
